Board of Estimate and Taxation settles litigation, amends Retirement Board eligibility

CT GREENWICH — Greenwich Board of Estimate and Taxation approves litigation settlement, expands Retirement Board eligibility. The board unanimously approved a $74,000 settlement in Kostas v. Town of Greenwich and voted to amend Town Code Article 14, Section 197(a)(3) to expand Retirement Board participant representative eligibility to include retirees and term-vested former employees, addressing concerns from Retirement Board Chair Michael Wacek about declining candidates caused by the plan's closure to new members since 2005.
The board also unanimously approved $1,325,000 in additional snow and ice control appropriations and $142,700 for the final installment of the 2023 Election Excellence Grant.
