State education funding update, school construction projects dominate committee meeting

CT GREENWICH — Advisory committee on disabilities hears state education funding update. Guest speaker Hector Arzeno reported on the Governor's budget provisions, including free breakfast for all students and free and reduced lunch eligibility, plus school construction reimbursement programs offering 15 to 20 percent reimbursement rates. Central Middle School has received 20 percent state reimbursement on applied funds and Oak Grove School reimbursement has been approved with the state pursuing an additional 15 percent for PreK construction.

The committee received updates on school construction projects at Oak Grove, Central Middle, Joseph Coppens, and Riverside schools, with multiple facilities in various stages of development. Lucy Conrod was appointed to the Pool Committee as the advisory committee's representative.
