Sustainability Committee Plans Solar Outreach, Renewable Energy Initiative

CT GREENWICH — Sustainability committee backed renewable energy outreach as town energy costs surge 14 percent. The First Selectman's Sustainability Committee, led by three co-chairs, received an Energy Management Advisory Committee report from Peter Schweinfurth showing municipal energy costs increased 14 percent to $9.1 million despite overall consumption declining since 2021. The committee committed to supporting solar energy outreach through Project Sunroof resources and streamlined permitting processes.

The Youth Environmental and Sustainability Commission, represented by Danielle Jean-Guillaume Sittol, reported student efforts on a disposable vape ban concept bill, with committee members expressing support.
