Investment committee directs Treasurer to address OPEB underperformance

CT GREENWICH — Greenwich investment committee targets OPEB portfolio overhaul. The Board of Estimate & Taxation Investment Advisory Committee, chaired by Elliot Alchek, unanimously approved changes to its reference book and directed Treasurer Nataliya Yemets to contact Morgan Stanley about underperforming actively managed investments in the OPEB Trust Portfolio, which generated $4.2 million in April earnings but lagged its policy benchmark by 47 basis points. The Committee also agreed to explore expanding the Investment Policy Statement to include non-correlated asset classes such as commodity exposure through energy funds.

The OPEB Portfolio held a market value of $66.0 million as of April 30.
