Retirement Board rejects hedge fund investment strategy
Retirement Board · Meeting of February 26, 2026
CT GREENWICH — Greenwich Retirement Board rejects hedge fund investment proposal. The five-member Board, led by Chairman Michael Wacek, declined Neuberger Berman's proposal to adopt a Diversified Strategic Asset Allocation featuring hedge funds and derivatives, requesting instead alternative strategies excluding those vehicles. Plan assets reached $750 million as of early February with a one-year return of 11.19 percent.
The Board unanimously approved an updated Charter Article 14, Section 197 amendment incorporating language changes recommended by the Board of Estimate and Taxation Law Committee, and also approved a March 2026 retirement and a military buy-back request.
