Greenwich Point dredging completed; mooring displacement questions remain

Board of Parks & Recreation · Meeting of May 27, 2026

CT GREENWICH — Greenwich Point dredging completed successfully to 9-10 foot depth after fifty years of deferred maintenance. The Board of Parks and Recreation reported the project finished in roughly three weeks using GPS-guided precision technology. The Byram ADA Marina is 98 percent complete with $100,000 in cost savings from in-house labor.

The department hired 130 seasonal staff and reported full summer program enrollment across camps, swim lessons, and recreation offerings. Some moorings may have been displaced by dredging along the restored channel; Parks and Recreation is requesting mooring permit data from the Harbor Commission to address affected locations. The Parks and Recreation Foundation's Light Up Greenwich fundraising campaign is on track to meet a $25,000 goal for July 4 fireworks enhancements.
