State housing bill exempts parks from developable land requirements
Board of Parks & Recreation · Meeting of January 28, 2026
CT GREENWICH — Greenwich parks board hears housing law implications for municipal planning. State Representative Tina Courpas presented Housing Bill 8002 to the Greenwich Parks Board, explaining that while municipalities must submit affordable housing growth plans by June 1, 2029, the law explicitly carves out existing parks and open space from developable land calculations. The board received updates on the completed Tod's Point dredging project, which removed approximately 18,000 cubic yards at approximately $1.3 million, and the Byram ADA Pier Project, targeted for mid-March completion with approximately $150,000 in projected cost savings through in-house work.
