Law Committee schedules special meeting on Brunswick School settlement
Board of Estimate & Taxation Law Committee · Meeting of January 8, 2026
CT GREENWICH — Law Committee schedules special meeting on settlement dispute. The Board of Estimate and Taxation Law Committee voted unanimously on January 8 to hold a special meeting January 12 to discuss the proposed settlement of Brunswick School, Inc. v Town of Greenwich after Town Attorney Barbara Schellenberg noted unresolved questions about whether the Board of Selectmen or the Law Committee holds authority to approve the settlement. Schellenberg's office previously determined no appropriation was involved, giving the Board of Selectmen settlement authority, but the committee wants to resolve the jurisdictional question before proceeding.
Law Department expenses are running under budget for the first six months of the fiscal year.
