Board approves FY2027 budget; mill rate declines despite tax levy rise

CT GREENWICH — Greenwich Board of Estimate and Taxation approves FY2027 budget with lower mill rate. The $542.4 million general fund operating budget passed unanimously 12-0, setting a mill rate of 10.124, a 15.92 percent reduction from the prior year despite a 5.41 percent increase in the required tax levy following the town's property revaluation. Comptroller Joan Lynch and Budget Director Agnes Cawai steered the board through multiple amendments, including approval of $41.2 million in Hamill Rink facility improvements and an increase of $2 million to the Capital Tax Levy.
A proposed $250,000 feasibility study for a Town Hall addition deadlocked 6-6 and failed.
