Board Discusses Ethics Safe Harbor Procedure, Defers Decision

CT GREENWICH — The Board of Estimate and Taxation heard a presentation on a proposed ethics safe harbor conflict-of-interest procedure. Paul deBary, Chair of the Board of Ethics, and Jennifer Cohen of the Board of Ethics presented the Code of Ethics requirements and the safe harbor procedure, which would protect members who disclose potential conflicts and follow disinterested colleagues' recommendations from intentional violation findings. The board discussed the proposal, and deBary agreed to circulate the Board of Ethics' template policy, with the BET to consider formal adoption at a future meeting.
