Board of Estimate & Taxation Holds Public Hearing on FY27 Budget

Board of Estimate & Taxation Regular Meeting · Meeting of March 26, 2026

CT GREENWICH — Board of Estimate and Taxation holds public hearing on FY2026-2027 budget ahead of March 31 decision day. Sixteen speakers addressed the board on the proposed budget, sharply divided over a Dorothy Hamill Rink replacement project whose estimated cost has jumped from $24 million to $38 to $42 million. First Selectman Fred Camillo presented three "transformational" capital projects: the rink, a Board of Education administration building at $26 to $30 million bolstered by a recent private contribution offer, and the Roger Sherman Baldwin Park waterfront renovation.

Critics including Lucia Jansen and Lucy von Brachel opposed full appropriation without Planning and Zoning approval, while supporters argued for full funding.
