Budget Committee approves $700,000 emergency appropriation for Witherell pipes

CT GREENWICH — Greenwich budget panel approves $782K in spending, $700K for Witherell pipes. The Board of Estimate & Taxation Budget Committee voted 4-0 to approve a $9,810 Police Information Network platform purchase using asset forfeiture funds and a $72,825.23 Health Department grant reallocation for a workforce development coordinator. The Committee also approved a $700,000 additional appropriation for emergency galvanized pipe replacement at Nathaniel Witherell senior facility, where original $50,000-per-stack cost estimates have ballooned to an average of $92,000 to $93,000 per stack due to corroded drains, rotted studs, and seized water valves at the 1973-1976-built building.
