Greenwich BET approves $9.4 million in capital carry forward projects
Board of Estimate & Taxation Budget Committee · Meeting of June 16, 2026
CT GREENWICH — Greenwich budget panel approves $9.4 million in capital projects. The Board of Estimate and Taxation Budget Committee voted unanimously (4-0) to approve a $4.65 million Round Hill Fire Station renovation and a $2 million harbor dredging cost-share placeholder. The fire station project has faced seven-plus years of delays and cost increases to an estimated $6 million, according to Round Hill Volunteer Fire Company representatives David Chass, Fire Chief Joe McHugh, and Assistant Chief Charlie Lubowicki.
Committee member Harry Fisher drafted proposed conditions for BET consideration, including design acceptance by the Greenwich Fire Department, detailed fundraising reporting, a mortgage equal to the Town's contribution, and competitive bidding. The harbor dredging cost share awaits determination of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' final formula; construction is not anticipated before 2029.
