Greenwich Budget Committee approves $6 million for Central Middle School
Board of Estimate & Taxation Budget Committee · Meeting of May 12, 2026
CT GREENWICH — Greenwich Budget Committee green-lights $6 million for Central Middle School project overruns. The committee voted unanimously to approve the interim appropriation, with cost increases driven by a $2.4 million fire suppression system deficiency and $1 million in under-budgeted soft costs, according to the minutes. The $112 million project's original 5 percent contingency reserve had been depleted.
In related action, the committee split 2-2 on a $250,000 feasibility study for relocating the Board of Education administration from the aging Havemeyer Building, with Chair Laura Erickson and Doug Fenton opposed, citing the lack of a comprehensive space-utilization plan.
