Greenwich Human Services faces rising aid demand amid economic pressure

CT GREENWICH — Greenwich residents face rising economic pressure as the Board of Human Services reviewed growing caseloads. Holiday assistance applications climbed from 452 to 494 winter households comparing 2024 and 2025; Thanksgiving applications rose to 456 households from 400. Evictions increased from 14 to 18 already this fiscal year with five months remaining.

Neighbor-to-Neighbor food referrals doubled from 25 to 50, and Director Linda Sandiaes reported Campership costs will rise to $100,540 from $87,660 in 2025 after one camp ends scholarships for low-income families.
